Nalerigu First Baptist Church Celebrates 50 Years

Elizabeth and George Faile, Jr.
First Baptist Church, Nalerigu, just celebrated it's 50th anniversary.  Here is a picture of the final event last Saturday.  I'm not sure how many people were there, but there was a large crowd.  There were local people as well as some leaders from the Ghana Baptist Convention.  There were also lots of people who had been a part of FBC Nalerigu in years past.  One couple that was honored were missionaries George and Elizabeth Faile.   George was baptized in the first baptism of this church.  He is a physician who served with his wife and children at BMC as IMB missionaries for almost 20 years.  Elizabeth ran the outpatient department here.  George's father (also named George Faile) founded the Baptist Medical Centre that celebrated ITS 50th anniversary in 2006.  The people of Nalerigu have erected a statue in honor of George Faile, Sr. in front of the hospital.  We are living in the same house that George Jr. lived in with his family.  It was an honor to meet them when they came to visit and work at the hospital for a while.  Elizabeth is originally from Sweden.  They currently live in Georgia, but return "home" to Nalerigu often.

Pray for BMC and FBC Nalerigu that they will continue to shine the light of Jesus to the sick and dying (physically and spiritually) of this region of Ghana.  God has blessed both entities by using them to lead many to Christ and to plant many churches.

We also thank God for the Failes and others like them who have given themselves to serve here in Nalerigu.
