The Miracle of Life

No, this is not a picture of Keenan delivering a baby.  It's a picture of ALLIE delivering a baby.  Yes, folks.  Allie had been really wanting to see a c-section while we are here.  We told Dr. Dickens, the ob-gyn missionary who is here long term with his family, that she wanted to watch so he said ok.  He did more than that, he asked her if she wanted to scrub in with him.  So Allie scrubbed in and gowned / gloved up then Joel (Dr. Dickens) led them in a short prayer over the mother just before the surgery.  It was very special.  Then Allie watched as Dr. Dickens made the incisions . . . . then . . . . he let Allie deliver the baby AND cut the cord and help sew her back up!!  I couldn't believe my eyes.  She did great and loved it!  Cindy called me right about that time and when I answered she asked "What are you doing?"  When I replied, "Watching Allie and Joel deliver a baby by c-section." she couldn't believe it.  We have really gotten a big kick out of this.  Not many 15 year-olds get this opportunity.

Life is such a miraculous and mysterious thing. We thank God for the miracle of birth.  For giving us life and breath.   For a Christian ob-gyn who knows that it is his Creator working  through his hands that brings life into this world.  Pray for Joel and Hollie Dickens and their children Colt, Abigail and Analeigh.  The are from Texas and have been here for a few years.  Many times he is the only ob-gyn / surgeon at the hospital and during those times, he is essentially on call every day / night.  That can take its toll on a person and his family.

Pray for the mother and child in this photo.  Pray that God will be glorified through their lives.
