Evan Receives an Offering

Over the last few weeks, Evan has been teaching the choir at FBC Nalerigu some new songs.  They decided to sing one in church this Sunday and they asked Evan to accompany them with his guitar.  He spent some time at several of their choir practices teaching them the words, melody and harmony parts.  And one the guitar players, Daniel, came to our house a few times to work on the chords.  They sang "Always" by Kristian Stanfill.

One thing that happens sometimes in the churches here is that while someone is singing, playing an instrument or dancing (remember it's Africa), someone may go up and stick some money to their forehead.  The forehead is usually sweaty since their is no AC so it sticks nicely.  It's meant to be an offering to the church, but just given in recognition of what they perceive as an anointing of the Spirit or something that particularly blessed them.  As you see in the picture, this happened to Evan during the song.  Thankfully, we had seen this done before so he didn't freak out as this woman came at him with her cane in hand.  It was very touching.  In fact, she was not the first one to come forward with money.

We will be leading a community-wide youth worship event here Sunday night while the Winona team is here.

Please be in prayer for this time of music, fellowship and sharing of God's Word.
